1) From where I stand now I look back on the first interview I had with my entrepreneur and I believe it was still pretty good. I could have gotten into depth a little bit more but for the most part the questions that got answered did get me the information I needed to keep. Because most of my questions had to do with what I was suppose to expect in this class and I had no idea at the time so the interview gave me kind of a heads up.
2) My interviewee is Whitney Spence, Owning her own dance studio.
- How long did it take you to really understand how to run your business as your own boss? To be honest keith I still am learning new things each and everyday. When you own your own company it is a never ending learning process. Being an entrepreneur is fun but also takes a lot of hard work and dedication.
- Did you use certain charts or graphs to run your business? I never really got into the whole chart thing until about five years into my business. At first I believed I did not need it because I could do all of that on my own or in my head. Once business started to grow It got harder and harder to do so. So I had to grab excel and learn how to use graphs and charts to maintain a successful business.
- Do you ever think you would sell your business down the road for a huge number or keep it for over 10 years and potentially pass it down? I have had this business for over 14 years and all three of my daughters dance at my studio. So I believe the answer to your question is that I am going to keep the studio until my kids are old enough to want to make that choice weather to keep it going and take after me or break off and do their own thing. So until then I will keep it.
3) I realize from looking at my first interview and this one I can see how much more elaborate I am with my questions and how much more I understand about becoming an entrepreneur. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into when I signed up for this class. I did not know how hard or how easy or how much or little work I was going to have. But after all of this time and all of the hours I have put into this class I do believe that it will help me in the near future when it comes to me running yet another one of my businesses. Whitney did believe that I have come a long way because she realized that I had a lot more knowledge about owning my own business or company than I did months ago.
Hey Keith,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on how you felt on the first interview. I also felt that I could have gone into more depth but like you, I just did not know what to expect. I think that the questions were really great. It showed that you were genuinely interested in how she became an entrepreneur and how hard the process has been. I love the fact that it is a family owned business and that she wants to pass it down to her daughters. Overall great job! If you want to check how my second short interview went, here is the link:

Hello Keith, I too agree that my first interview with an entrepreneur could have gone a lot better. The second time around, it seemed like that you may have been better prepared by the course to ask appropriate questions that helped you as Whitney ones that could benefit your business further. I would say that you should go and check out my post on my Very Short Interview with an Entrepreneur No. 2 but, I forgot to do it... Oops!
ReplyDeleteHi Keith,
ReplyDeleteI agree that we all have learned from the beginning of this class. It’s great to see that the Entrepreneur you interviewed at the beginning of class saw how much you have grown in just a few short months. I believe the exercises that we have completed in this class has helped us all grow, whether we plan to pursue our business venture or just learn from it.
This was one of the few assignments I didn’t complete so unable to share my link.
Very interesting blog post! I really enjoyed reading about your short interview with an entrepreneur! The entrepreneur you interviewed seemed very helpful and their answers were very thoughtful. This should be a great tool in helping you on your own entrepreneurial adventure. Finally, you asked great questions and seem to have a great interest in the topic.
ReplyDeleteHey, Keith! I really enjoyed reading your blog post! And I agree with how much easier the interviewing process became when compared to our skills at the beginning of the class. I also saw improvement in the questions I ask in reference to entrepreneurship. Nicely done over all and keep up the good work! Unfortunately, I did not complete this assignment, but here is the link to my blog if you would like to check it out: http://nika-uf-ent3003.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeletehey keith,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that I had no clue what i was getting into when I first started this class. However, I enjoyed this class because it has really showed me what entrepreneurs have to do to become successful. One thing I learned from this class is how to think of entrepreneurs ideas that are actually feasible.
Hi Keith,
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately did not get to complete the first assignment so I had my hands tied on the follow up. You did great! I think you can confidently say you've completed this assignment with to the best of your ability. I definitely see the benefit of this class like you do and assignments like this are very important. Again, good job!
Hello Keith,
ReplyDeleteFirst, great job on this blog post. I'm glad that through this assignment you got the chance to reflect. I am also glad that the entrepreneur noticed a difference in you as well! That's great! Conducting such an intimate interview with sincere and thoughtful answers will definitely help you in the future. I can agree that I have grown from this class as well.
Unfortunately, I did not complete this assignment. You can check out my blog here: http://stthach.blogspot.com/
Hello there Keith
ReplyDeleteFor starters, good job on this assignment as well as keeping up with your chosen entrepreneur to interview. I was unable to get back into contact with mine therefor I was unable to complete this assignment. It seems like you have a better grasp on the principles of entrepreneurship, and certainly the way that this class pushes us out of our comfort zone is a major reason for this. Good luck with your finals and semester.
