Google Gold Week 14

1) A discussion of your general approach and strategy to search engine optimization (SEO). What were some of the activities you did for each blog post to pursue SEO? What I learned was just going on Bing and google and figuring out what keywords brought up certain business and companies. Some of the activities I did for the blog posts was make sure I have the keywords so when someone types it in I can potentially be up there.

2) What were your keywords. How did you select those keywords? Did you change or refine your keywords through the semester? Some of my keywords I used were ; Entrepreneur, Business owner, University of Florida. I did not change any of my keywords because it seemed to work through out the semester.

3) How did you use social media to enhance your SEO efforts? What your your surprises or general impression of using social media to improve your blog's profile? Was social media generally receptive of your blog, or did it get ignored? I used Facebook a lot because previously with my business I started up with my brother we used facebook ads and paid five dollars a week and got over 50 likes a week and it continuously grew and grew. I already had a great understanding of what social media does when trying to make something shine so I was not very surprised. Instagram was probably the worst. Most people do not respond from Instagram. but facebook and twitter worked relatively well.

4) What was your most "viral" post? In other words, which post obtained the most traffic? Why do you think? My viral post is the 20 percent one. I had over 20 comments and I actually had a lot of views from people that did not go to the school or from this class.

5) Finally, did you make it to the first page of Google results for your keywords? If not, what page of results did you make it to? I did not make it to the first page of google from keywords. Honestly it is extremely hard to make it to the top three on google usually the top three spots are people that paid to show up top three from key words. I did show up on top five from bing though.

  1. Hey Keith, great strategy you used in order to make you blog appear high in the list of results from a search. Using the right keywords and sharing your blog can definitely improve your chances of reaching SEO. I personally did not use any social media other than YouTube, but I do believe that social media plays a key role considering you can reach a great number of people fairly quickly. It’s great that you used other social medias such as Facebook and Twitter to enhance your efforts of SEO. One thing we have in common is that I also used entrepreneur as one of my keywords. Scoring high on the list of results is quite difficult, but you seemed to have used the right strategy here and congrats for making it to Bing. Overall, great job. 2. Hey there Keith,

Awesome job and I agree with Susana, your strategy was great. Sorry you didn't make the 1st page on Google but you'r right, those spots come at a high cost. Top 5 in Bing is awesome though. I think more and more people are venturing away from Google. I like that you and your brother found a great purpose for social media. I'm not a big fan of most social media sites, but I'm glad to see that you guys were able to take advantage of the exposure and that it is at a low cost to you. Best of luck!

  3. Keith,

You did a great job on this assignment and I think you definitely have a good grasp on the concept of SEO and using it to positively effect your business. The fact that you had a bunch of comments from people not even in this class or that go to Florida is a great sign that you were able to reach a wide range of people and get your ideas out there. I was interested to see that people did not respond well to Instagram because I feel as it is becoming increasingly popular by the day. Overall a very good job on this assignment and if you get the chance check out my blog as well. http://ghioto.blogspot.com/2016/04/google-gold.html

  4. Hey Keith,

I think it's great that you utilized Facebook and also used the experience you already had with it to help you throughout this class. Great job on being able to reach more people than just those who go to UF. That can be hard to do, but it seems you were able to accomplish that! Awesome job.

  5. Hey Keith
The keywords you chose do not seem very creative but they seem very effective, which is what matters. I think the use of Facebook for a business can be a big help to really get a business going, and I can see how instagram could have its problems while trying to build up followers.
