Idea Napkin NO. 2 Week #9

1) You- I am Keith Adam, I have a few talents that are key to my success so far. Some of them are keeping people happy, staying organized at all times, and becoming a kickboxing world champion. My aspirations are to become a sports agent and get through law school. I see this business concept playing a role in my life because parking is always a big role in everyone everyday life.

2) What are you offering to customers? What I am offering to customers is a new way to get around campus easier and more convenient than the bus services. Bus services only goes to select locations which can be inconvenient to most. My business will have way more pick up and drop offs from where you park. No more walking to the bus stops we will pick you up and deliver you right to the class doors with virtually no wait.

3) Who are you offering it to? I am offering this service to college students around the country and will make it easier for them to park from a distance and still get to class on a faster scale than the bus system. What all my customers have in common is parking. When your on campus and you either can not walk or do not feel like it you can get this service for such a cheap rate you can practically not say no.

4) Why do they care? Customers will pay me money because most customers at major universities are sick of either being late or being cramped in a bus to just get dropped off somewhere close to their destination. With my services you will always be on time and never have to wait longer than 5 minutes for the transportation to show up. The service will bring you right to the front of the class which means minimal walking and waiting.

5) What are your core Competencies? What sets me apart from everyone else is the rate that is being offered. Just a dollar from the students on their tuition will give them a semester pass to ride in my transportation services. What I have that nobody else has is the time and direction and drop off zones that no bus service will be able to have.

These five elements fit together for my business concept because they are key to the success of the business. Some points that I have taken away from the feed back is that I have to be more specific when it comes to the services that I will be offering. Some of the feedback said that I would not be able to stay in business because a dollar is not enough to survive. But what people do not realize is that a dollar per student that may need it not necessarily going to use it everyday I still get paid. Think about the amount of people that go to major universities and tell me a dollar per person per semester would not be enough. I incorporated the feedback by being more specific about what I will offer and what will be given.

  1. Hi, your idea is very specific and you have found a good niche to combat. I think with the right planning and execution this idea could actually come into for tuition. I like that you have already made it a goal to be affordable. Dealing with college kids it is always a big deal that they get a good price. I would encourage you to think about how you plan to advertise .

  2. Keith,

I think that this is a great idea since myself and most of my friends will not ride the bus. Most campuses won't let you park close to class, and the bus is extremely slow and inconsistent. I am curious as to how you plan on offering your services for such a low price, when you would have to pay a huge number of drivers if the company got big in order to stay with your "5 minute guarantee". I enjoyed reading your idea napkin, and you can look at mine here:

  3. Hi Keith! I think this is a very creative idea. I haven't really read one so far quite like it. I think this could appeal to many college customers. I personally don't like the bus system, but sometimes I do wish I could get to my classes a little faster than walking there everyday. I think your business concept would solve a lot of similar frustrations. I'm excited to see how your concept plays out. 4. Keith, what an interesting background you have! You must be ultra competitive and driven and that will serve you well for sure. I've had difficulty commenting on the merits of the "campus" types of ideas since I've never lived in a college town situation. I do wonder about profitability. It seems labor and equipment intensive and I wonder if college students can afford such concierge service. But I may not fully understand what you are trying to do. Anyway, you seem like a talented and smart guy. I'm sure whatever you try to do will be successful. Good luck!

  5. Hi Keith! Really interesting and cool idea and background you have! A kickboxing world champion is a pretty darn cool title to have earned. I think your business idea is really thought provoking and definitely something that could be put to use right away. I agree that most people would pay for this service. I sure would.
