Interviewing Customers No. 2 Week # 5
My idea is if major Universities had a service that shuttles could pick students up from their cars and drop them off at their right destination, free of charge.
My questions where:
1. How do you feel about parking at school?
2. Would a free service such as shuttling from your car to the door of your classes be convenient for you?
* the other two interviews where extremely blurry and muffled sound so I will write what they said.*

Chelsea- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjpqwzSwkLY&feature=youtu.be
Nicco- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeUv_HWIYH8&feature=youtu.be
Carlos- How do you feel about parking at school? I don't like parking at school because you have to be there either and hour early or you will not get a spot. If there were free transportation such as a shuttle to your class doors would that be convenient? Yea! I think that would be perfect because most of the time I have to walk at least 15 minutes to even get close to my classes.
Colton- How do you feel about parking at school? It is ok at times. But most of the time it becomes a hastle. Would free transportation provided from the university help? I would like to think so because I hate having to walk so far.
What I have learned from interviewing my customers is that the majority of the college population does not like how far they have to park just to get to class. They would love to have a more convenient approach that is provided from the school. Three tips I would give is one, make sure the questions are not confusing. Two make sure you do some of the talking so they are not always put on the spot. And three Be specific and kind, I joked around with them for a little before the interview so it was not so awkward first meeting them.

I can't exactly relate to this idea since I live a block from campus, however I'm sure it's super stressful for those who don't have that luxury. I am slightly confused though, because this idea just sounds like the RTS bus system- that runs directly to campus. Unless you are proposing there is something similar to the commuter lot, where students drive to and THEN a shuttle takes them to class? It possibly has potential, but I definitely think there are many logistics to work out.
ReplyDeleteKeith as I live in Tampa doing the online degree path, I don't have much experience on the parking at UF. I would like to say that is is very disturbing that student s have such an issue their. I'd like to say this is isolated but My daughter goes to USF in Tampa and she says the parking is horrific. It sounds like you have a good plan and hopefully something like that will be implemented in the future.
ReplyDeleteI used to live on campus and I can say that its an absolute nightmare. I'm not sure, however, how UF would be able to implement a shuttle system over their system they already have set up with the Park and Ride buses. I'd also like to mention that the links you have posted aren't clickable (not sure if that was on purpose or not)
ReplyDeleteI really like that you joked with them first before starting the interview. I think it is a good way to make sure they are loose and comfortable. When my older sister went to college, her campus had a tram system. Many other campuses have trams and I've always wondered why we didn't. Granted, we have public buses that travel exclusively around campus, the routes take so long. If we had trams that went directly between the commuter lot and the business school, for example, I think many people would use it. Check out my blog posts: http://stent3003.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI do like the idea, but it sounds pretty much the same as the current deal with the RTS buses. If there was a way to make your shuttles run more often, or maybe get them to stop closer to some of the classes (the business school for example, I had to ride the bus to Rawlings Hall then walk the rest of the way). Its definitely an interesting idea, I just don't know how you could differentiate it from the current system with the buses.
ReplyDeleteHey Keith,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed watching/reading your interviews. It's really nice that I can relate to your idea because mine also targets students who need a more effective way to get around. I think that your opportunity is a little trickier since it involves a lot of coordination with schedules, etc. Regardless, it's a very interesting idea and would be very popular if you could actually make this happen. I'm positive it would be really appreciated by all college students, which would result in a very successful business.
Hey Keith,
ReplyDeleteI think your idea is great! I believe that one of the most important issues for students that go to UF is the fact that there is basically no parking spots available and this situation creates stress for all the students. I think your idea would solve the unmet need of many students that should be taking care of issues related to school rather than to find a parking spot. I believe that your idea is kind of related to my idea since both us try to make transportation easier and convenient for UF students!
Please check out the opportunity that I describe on my post and feel free to leave a comment:

Overall I think you did a great job!
you have a convenient and applicable idea. I think you did a good job finding a variety of interviews. However, I wish the videos would have been longer so that you could have more research to go off of. The quality was also low but i see that you found a way around those technical difficulties. I think this idea could be implemented realistically by next semester, it would just take a little planning. Also consider traffic times and how efficient it would really be.
ReplyDeleteKeith,
ReplyDeleteI can certainly relate to the idea of not wanting to walk from my car to class everyday. Because of RTS and SNAP, I rarely need to though. How does your idea differ from the already accepted modes of transportation? I would love to hear your thoughts about my blog as well! http://travismcafee.blogspot.com/
Hi Kieth, I think you have a great idea. It is something that I think everyone can agree: parking at school is horrible. And quite frankly, I do not think it is something that needs to be proven through interviews— thats how universal the problem is! This solution will not only help student get to glass, but also provide job opportunities for students who can be the drivers (similarly to SNAP).
ReplyDeleteFirst, I'd like to say that I think your idea is great. Just with being at UF, parking is always terrible and I sometimes don't even get to park close to the location I need to be. Second, I think your idea would be liked by many people who feel the same way that I do. Administration might possibly find it a little unnecessary but I think it's something that would do very well. Great idea, and great job on your interviews! I would show you mine but I unfortunately did not turn it in on time. Keep up the good work!
